About
Paul Gregory is a mix engineer, producer, and musician based in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England. He is a founding member of the Mercury Prize–shortlisted band Lanterns On The Lake.
Producing and mixing all of Lanterns On The Lake’s output, he has since collaborated on a diverse range of projects, including Minor Victories, Douglas Dare, Bella Union, Ben Chatwin, Philip Selway, Editors, Holly Macve, GINA ÉTÉ, Erased Tapes, Mastersystem, PIAS, The Leisure Society, Ninja Tune, as well as projects for organisations such as the BBC and BT Sport.
Entirely self-taught, Paul learned his craft recording his own band, initially on a Zoom digital 8-track before moving through various DAWs and eventually settling into Pro Tools, following many, many sonic experiments he develop his own style of mixing and production which served the band well. Following the release of Lanterns On The Lake’s third LP, Beings (Bella Union, 2015), he began mixing records for other artists, both in the local North East music scene and further afield.
He has since worked with artists from around the world, with his work featuring on end-of-year lists, radio playlists, and sync placements. Lanterns On The Lake’s fourth LP, Spook The Herd, was shortlisted for the 2020 Mercury Prize.
Paul divides his time between writing and performing with Lanterns On The Lake and producing and mixing records for other artists.
